our new + improved
Let’s talk about the updated structure of Tastemaker Conference!
We will be trying something new this year with a learning style that we consider to be similar to that of a college or university structure, containing a few different features to make the education portion of this event the best it can be. Let’s go over the details!
- Education Levels: We will have an Intermediate Track at the same time as an Advanced Track. This decision is based off the survey data from our attendees, with the majority of our attendees identifying as intermediate to advanced content creators. Attendees who have a few years under their belt in content creation are encouraged to attend 301 classes, while advanced content creators who have been in the industry for many years are encouraged to attend 701 classes.
- Lecture and Lab: Many college courses provide a lecture and lab for a hands-on experience to help you learn to the best of your ability. Research shows that adult learners retain information most by putting the learning into application. This is why we have chosen to structure our break out sessions to have one (1) lecture session on Day 1, and then one (1) hands-on session on Day 2, which will focus on the same topic and the same skill level.
- Out-of-session option: During each session, we also have the Tech Study Hall open, where you can book sessions with tech experts and mentors to answer your questions in real-time. If a class doesn’t appeal to you or you believe it’s something you have nailed down, then we have options on-site for you to help you advance your business the best way possible.
- Tech Study Hall: this is similar to the 2023 conference and has a space dedicated to our Tech + SEO Sponsors. In this space, you are able to meet and ask all your tech-related questions to the experts. This is a space for those looking to start practical application of the information they’ve learned while in session.

Networking Roundtables
9:00 am – 10:00 am Coffee & Networking Roundtables
Tastemaker Conference feels strongly that community over competition is the key to success. Creators of all levels can benefit from interacting in a small-group setting with one another. The goal of these roundtables is to provide a more personal setting in which creators of all different backgrounds, niches, and experience levels can discuss industry topics with one another. And who knows–you might just meet your new creator bestie!
How do I participate in Networking Roundtables?
While participation is optional, ALL conference attendees will be randomly assigned to a roundtable group. Each group will have approximately 15-20 members and be equally distributed with bloggers of all experience levels and backgrounds. Roundtable groups will meet on both Day 1 & Day 2 from 9:00-10:00 in the main stage area, with designated tables for chatting over coffee!
A discussion facilitator will be assigned to each group (by Tastemaker Conference, ahead of time). Facilitators will spearhead virtual introductions one week prior to the conference, so everyone will have a few friendly faces to look out for at TC25!

10:10 am – 10:30 am Opening Keynote – Why Your Work Matters
-
Speaker:
Barrett Brooks (He/him)
We spend nearly half of our waking lives at work. Yet far too many people view their work as something to be endured or tolerated rather than something more. At its best, work is our biggest opportunity to make a positive impact on our families, our communities, and on the world at large. But in order to create change, we have to take look at work through the lens of service. Your work as a food creator matters. Food is one of the most universal and important of human experiences — it brings us together, gives us nourishment, and allows us to share a part of who we are. But most importantly, your work matters because it’s a tool for helping you become the person, partner, parent, and leader you were meant to be.
When you leave this session, you’ll be reconnected with why you got into this work, why food matters, and how your work reflects who you are. Because while making an impact with your work is something the world benefits from, it’s also what helps you become the person you were made to be.

Adrianna Adarme (she/her)
Hi! I’m Adrianna.
My blog is fueled by copious amounts of hip-hop, sugar, butter and flour. I first started my blog when I was working a job that left lots to be desired in the creativity department. After a few years of plugging away, I was able to leave and now I run my blog full-time. YAY!
The recipes I love to make are ALWAYS comforting and cozy and often times are inspired by my Latin-American background. My mom is Peruvian and my dad is Colombian. You’ll find some traditional classics from both countries as well as a bunch of mash-ups that hopefully aren’t offensive (I was raised in the US, after all). Another thing you’ll find a lot of: pastries, cakes, breakfast stuff and lots and lots of pie.
In 2015, I released The Year of Cozy: 125 Recipes, Crafts & Other Homemade Adventures (Rodale). It was the most fun and exhausting experience ever and I loved every minute of it. And in 2016, I came out with a coloring cookbook called A Cozy Coloring Cookbook: 45 Recipes to Eat, Cook & Color. If you’d like to read about them more, hop on over to my Cookbooks Page.
I currently live in Los Angeles, California.

Holly Nilsson (she/her)
Nice to meet you! I’m Holly, a wife, mother of four, grandma to one (almost two!), and a passionate home cook living in the suburbs of Vancouver, Canada.
As a professional recipe developer and food photographer, I am the recipe creator and photographer behind SpendWithPennies.com and the author of Everyday Comfort – my debut cookbook (available for pre-order now)!
While I’m trained in biological technology to work in a research lab, my days are now spent in the kitchen, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
Growing up, we sat down for a family dinner almost every night and when I became a single mom of 3, I was determined to carry on the tradition with my own family. At that time, finances were extremely tight, and I had little in the pantry; it was then that I learned the magic of turning the most basic of ingredients into unforgettable, cozy family meals. This remains the basis of every recipe I create today.
In 2012, I started Spend with Pennies to share my money-saving tips and family-friendly recipes. What began as a small project blossomed into a warm online community of millions of home cooks who invited me into their kitchens and to their family table through my recipes. For that, I thank you for what an incredible honor it is to be a part of your most celebrated and cherished moments and family traditions.

Kevin O’Leary (he/him)
A little about Kevin is Cooking
Kevin’s focus is creating approachable, family friendly recipes. Here you’ll find classic American favorites, including a love for BBQ, Mexican and Tex Mex recipes, too. His passion is adding flavor in simple and creative ways, because life’s too short to be bland!
About Kevin
He was bitten by the cooking bug as a kid cooking and baking along side his mom in San Francisco. As a teenager, he took an ROP course in Restaurants in Marin County, learning about the front and back of the house. He quickly learned tips and tricks in the kitchen from a red haired, French chef named Gerard. He was taught the basics of making a roux to soups, salad dressings, beurre blancs and other beginner classics and baking techniques. It piqued in him a secret talent and a way to express himself. It was a fantastic crash course that lit the fire for him.
He then went on to work in restaurants and catering in San Diego; from small gastronomic eateries like Piret’s to large restaurants like La Valencia in La Jolla and for the largest catering company in San Diego circa mid-’80s, The Carriage Trade, for several years. It was all hands on training and he learned a lot.
Life intervened, but he never really stepped away from the stove. He worked the corporate life for a while in design so he could have a better schedule. While he excelled and worked at some large companies doing graphic design, advertising and User Interface Design for eBay, Walmart and Illumina, his passion was just not in it.
Now he lives the cooking life every day up in Oregon. Inspired by his love for travel and trying new cuisines from cultures near and far has led him to explore Mexico, the Bahamas, England, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Egypt (three times), China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Australia.
In October of 2020 he started his second food site, Silk Road Recipes. After years of cooking these recipes for family and friends, he decided to share his passion for the foods along the ancient Silk Road with you, too. From the Mediterranean, Middle East and Persia to India and China, he hopes you come follow along there as well!
In the end, his story is about his desire to help you cook easier and smarter and to explore new flavors and ideas.

Eight years in the kitchen has taught me so much about cooking fundamentals, but I also have countless hands-on cooking classes under my belt and have gone through every cooking Masterclass. This thorough understanding of knife skills, techniques, sauces, cooking methods, and ingredients gives me so much confidence in crafting and testing the recipes that make it on these pages.
Creating something (delicious) out of nothing never gets old. Ten ingredients separately on a table are just ingredients, but put them together and you end up with a colorful, nutritious, and vibrant dishes.
