Melissa is a freelance recipe and cookbook editor. She’s always on the lookout for typos (no one wants to make a mouse instead of a mousse), misnamed recipes (if you have a tequila sunrise recipe that’s really a margarita recipe, she’ll be sure to tell you!), and confusing directions. She uses her knowledge of effective recipe construction, cuisines, dishes, ingredients, and cooking techniques to help bloggers, creators, recipe developers, and chefs. In addition to editing, she teaches recipe editing workshops and a six-week class on how to edit recipes for a living.
She has been hired by clients like Modern Proper, Evolving Table, Harvard Common Press, Penguin Random House, and more. Before striking out on her own, she worked at Cooking Light and Men’s Health magazines.
