3 Tips to Beat the Facebook Algorithm

Here are 3 tips to help you beat the Facebook algorithm so you can successfully continue to grow your page and engagement.

Here are 3 tips to help you beat the Facebook algorithm so you can successfully continue to grow your page and engagement.

If you’ve been blogging for any length of time, you’ll know that most of us have a love/hate relationship with the Facebook algorithm. It is ever-changing, keeping us on our toes and guessing, “What do we do now?”

We know we need to engage the platform (hello, 2 billion active monthly Facebook users!), but it’s tough to not get discouraged. But we are here to help!

Our 3 Tips

1. Be Consistent

How often are you posting to your Facebook page? Are you consistent?

Many times when taking over a new client’s page we find that either they haven’t been posting at all or they’re just not posting often enough. Make it a habit to sit down once a week and schedule out a week’s worth of posts. Focus on at least two posts per day (your own content and others) and gradually increase how often you post as your engagement grows.

2. Be Engaging

There are two sides to the engagement coin.

1. What type of content are you sharing?
2. Are you interacting with those that are engaging with that content?

Is the content you’re sharing something your audience is interested in and willing to engage with? If you’re sharing content that doesn’t seem to resonate with your page, step back and evaluate who your target audience is and change things up! Find what works for your page and keep doing it!

Next, go back and interact with the people that are engaging with your content with these three simple steps: like, respond and invite.

  • Like their comments.
  • Respond to their questions.
  • Invite them to like your page.

Your readers want to connect with you and responding to them goes a long way! Create a community and you’ll find that they’ll be more apt to engage more often and click through to your site when prompted.

3. Be Unique

What type of content are you sharing of your own?

If you’re just sharing the typical blog post and letting the link auto populate, it might be time to change things up. Here are a few unique ways to add to how you share your own content:

  1. Upload a photo.
  2. Create a recipe video.
  3. Create a collage of photos.
  4. Make a GIF.

Engaging with Your Audience in Different Ways

  1. Create a poll (you can now add GIF’s for an extra level of fun).
  2. Ask a question in simple text form.
  3. Invite them into your kitchen with a 360 photo.
  4. Do a Facebook Live video.

Every page is unique and has a different audience, so it will take some time to figure out who your audience is and getting them engaged. But, when you tap into your little slice of the 2 billion, you’ll fall in love with Facebook all over again! You can and you will beat the Facebook algorithm!
