• Why this workshop?

    Food content creation and photography can be isolating and tough sometimes—we get it. This is why we created this photography workshop retreat! Come enjoy the company of 9 food creators in the beautiful mountains where we will work together to learn cutting-edge food photography and styling techniques, as well as mindset work, and a time to connect with fellow creators where you can unwind and share a rejuvenating weekend together.

    We are passionate about the power of food photography to reach a whole new audience for your business and can’t wait to share these strategies and tips with you!

    Who is it for?

    This is for beginner to intermediate photographers. However, it is for EVERYONE who wants to spend some time connecting, recharging, and learning. Because we believe there is always something to learn from each other.

  • When and where is it?

    This is a 5 day in-person, hands-on workshop will take place November 9-13, 2022. This is an actual working event where you’ll accomplish big things! It’ll take place at the Lost River Barn in West Virginia. The venue is located at Lost River Barn 9580 Howards Lick Rd. Mathias, WV 26812.

    Who will be speaking?

    • Sam Adler, founder of Frosting and Fettuccine and Style Me Creatively. She is a classically French-trained pastry chef and a professional food photographer, with a background in color coordination in fashion. In 2018 she won a Saveur Blog Award under the category “Best Food Instagram”. She NEVER thought she would start teaching, but after some people asked her about it, she realized there were a ton of photography courses out there but none that were focused heavily on styling, creativity, and direct feedback. So, she put together a program to teach her signature methodology and uses her creativity every day.
    • Abbey Rodriguez, CEO and Founder of Tastemaker Conference. And owner and blogger at The Butter Half and cookbook author of Root and Nourish. Abbey will be hosting, introducing, and making sure all attendees are taken care of.
    • Chandice Probst, Director of Sponsorships of Tastemaker Conference. Chandice Probst is the bubbly personality behind This Vivacious Life. She is a food and entertaining blogger and the co-author of Gluten-Free on a Budget.

    • Flights are not included
    • It is easiest to fly into Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Virginia. Then plan to meet at our Tastemaker Conference Co-Working Space in Middleburg, VA by 4 pm ET on November 9, 2022. We will then transport everyone to the location! You can rent a car and meet us there, but a rideshare service won’t drive out to the location. It is a 2-hour drive.
    • We will drop you at the airport on November 13th. You will want to plan a flight for no earlier than 2 PM ET.

    Sleeping arrangements: This is first come first serve the day of, however, we can try to accommodate those who have specific requests. Here is the gallery.

    • Upstairs bedroom 1 has 2 full beds
    • Upstairs loft room 1 has 2 full beds
    • Upstairs loft main room has 1 queen
    • Upstairs loft room 2 has 4 bunks (the 2 bottoms are full)

    ADA: This venue unfortunately is not completely ADA compliant and has stairs. However, we will try to accommodate transportation as much as necessary. Please contact us if you have questions.
