  • When and where is it?

    Tastemaker Conference 2022 will be held on Thursday, March 3 to Friday, March 4, 2022 at the historic Revel Motor Row in downtown Chicago.

    In addition to our conference, you also get complimentary Media Registration to the world’s largest home and housewares trade show, The Inspired Home Show, which runs March 5-8, 2022.

  • What’s on the schedule? Who is speaking?

    Tastemaker Conference 2022 is full of incredibly educational sessions led by true experts in the food blogging and creator industry, who will help you grow your business. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, there is something for everyone at Tastemaker.

    • There are 30+ classes, workshops, panels, and keynotes that focus on the topics of SEO + tech, revenue + business growth, content creation, and mindset + DEI.
    • The breakout sessions are categorized into tracks, and occur simultaneously. Don’t worry, we will have all sessions recorded and replays will be available for classes you aren’t able to attend live.
    • Sessions also have experience level categories so you can determine if the class is the right fit for you.
    • Once the conference concludes, relax and unwind on one of our foodie excursions, where together we explore Chicago’s history and its amazing food scene. Enjoy delicious food and even better company with your Tastemaker friends. (Separate registration is required for excursions, and tickets will be released in January 2022.)

Opening + Welcome

Registration Check-In + Breakfast

Get all settled and checked-in as soon as doors open at 7 am CT. Upon arrival, you will need to your ID and ticket, which is available through Attendify.

Pro tip: Download the event app via Attendify for a smooth and streamlined check-in, as well as digital access to the schedule, a map of the conference layout, and the giveaway game system.

You will check in at the registration station by the front doors, get your name badge, and shop for the swag that you would like in our popular shoppable swag. (Yes, all that amazing swag worth of $150 is included in your ticket! Amazing, right?)

After filling your swag bag, head over to the breakfast station for a delicious hot meal, your morning cup of coffee or tea, and make some new friends.

Get ready to party and have the best two days of community, education, and experience! We kick-off in the main hall with a quick welcome by Tastemaker Conference founder, Abbey Rodriguez.

Then we turn it over to our resident Tastemaker Conference emcee, Charity Lighten. She will get us pumped up, review the daily schedule and housekeeping, and then introduce our amazing keynote speaker (to be announced soon)!

Brand + Community Networking

Get your business cards ready! Because Tastemaker Conference is all about the connections you make and the concept of collaboration over competition, we will begin the first session of the day with brand and community networking.

The audience will be divided into two groups. The first group will head over to the Exhibitor Hall to speed network with the 24 sponsors at their booths. We encourage you to spend 2 minutes with each brand, learning about their product and sharing your business card.

The other group will remain in the main hall and rotate through a series of speed ice breaker questions with different people. The goal here is to learn about someone new, and to get out of your comfort zone!

After 25 minutes, we will rotate the groups and continue the networking fun.

    Here is the week-by-week breakdown of what the Pricing, Proposals & Pitching Workshop includes:

    • Week 1 – October 22 (Virtual): Group welcome Zoom call, introductions, homework outlining your business model, revenue goals, dream projects + partnerships, and current sales pipeline
    • Week 2 – October 29 (Virtual): 1:1 calls with Abbey & Chandice where we review your homework from Week 1 and provide tailored feedback about your current pricing, sales pipeline, and revenue goals
    • Week 3 – November 5-6 (In-Person): The-in person event! This is where we do the actual work to create a full-functioning system based on the pre-work. You also get to hang with your new blog besties, who provide a supportive community and network, which is incredibly crucial to your success!
    • Week 4 – November 12 (Virtual): Follow-up group call, and your live brand partnership call with the Tastemaker team. We will act as a temporary agent to help facilitate the negotiation until you get the yes!

One of the most frequently asked questions we get from new and seasoned creators alike is, “How much should I charge for this?”

With over 11 years of experience in the influencer marketing industry, Abbey has seen the growth and shifts within the industry. In doing so, she has come up with a successful process for knowing how to price your work in a competitive way that maintains your revenue growth and the value of your work.

In this session you will:

  • Finalize your identified income streams to build your systems
  • Finalize your pricing model ranges for the difference types of work you offer—based on an hourly model and reach using the Project Pricing Calculator—which will inform your calculations for your monthly and annual revenue goals
  • Understand why to include certain minimums in your rates and understand the breakdown of contractor pay, and implement them into your pricing model

Cultivating an Abundance Mindset + Making the Winning Pitch

In this session you will:

  • Discuss and learn about helpful tips for cultivating a positive abundance mindset around your relationship with money and how to have the confidence asking for what you want (this is a scary aspect of pitching, but mindset can make a huge difference!)
  • Learn what to include in your pitch for each phase of your sales pipeline
  • Brainstorm your pitch templates based on your individualized sales plan
  • How to best communicate your proposal and the importance of flexibility in negotiations
  • Draft your pitch templates with 1:1 guidance from Chandice, Abbey, and masterminding in the group
  • Draft and send a customized pitch email to at least two of your leads on your sales pipeline
  • Schedule a tentative calendar appointment for a sales call with Chandice acting as agent and mentor to guide the conversation in real-time, so you have real-life and hands-on experience seeing the process
